The Saint Andrew’s Choir

The Choir of Saint Andrew’s is a congenial group of dedicated churchmen and women who generously give of their time and considerable talent to the Lord and His worship.  The unique character of Saint Andrew’s Anglo-catholic style of worship requires that a large portion of each celebration of the Mass is sung through the use of Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, ancient chants, and anthems from Medieval times to the present.  All of the richness of church music that enhances our worship requires diligent preparation and seriousness of purpose.

The choir rehearses each Wednesday evening after the mid-week Mass at 7:30 PM in the Parish House and again on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM prior to the Mass to prepare for that day’s worship.

Many of our choir members read musical notation and have had some musical training, and they provide sectional leadership.  Some, however, have little prior musical training or experience, but love to sing with others.  If one “does no harm” musically, one is welcome to give the choir a try.

If you are interested in joining our choir, please call Saint Andrew’s Organist & Choirmaster John Gilbert at 233-3705 to discuss your possible contribution to the group.  We always can use experienced music readers!
